Personal Transitions

For most of us, our lives are “works-in-progress”.  The question is not IF, but WHEN will you experience your next transition.  We at the Transitions Institute think you should have the best professional support available to navigate change in your life. We are prepared to help you begin your journey as well as accomplish the goals you have established.

Experiencing joy, satisfaction, having nurturing, fulfilled relationships, going beyond self-imposed limitations are all products of intentional, committed, and informed actions.  The Transitions Process is an AMAZING tool for navigating your way to the future you desire.  Each of the four phases of the Transitions Process is designed to reveal how you can take control of your life.  Following our simple formula, Self Awareness, Self Acceptance, Self Generation and Self Actualization, you can learn to drive change powerfully and gain the confidence necessary to move freely in areas that are unfamiliar or unknown.

A brief look at how the Process works:
In Phase I, Self Awareness, you examine your relationship with the voice in your head, “self talk”, your thoughts.  In our Process, you learn how to change that conversation to support you rather than question you or find fault.  You discover that your personal reality is directly shaped and determined by that inner dialogue.  We promise to show you how to quickly and profoundly alter your inner conversations, replacing concern and hesitation with freedom and confidence.

In Phase II, Self Acceptance, we provide you with tools to move your attention from what happened in the past to what you are building for the future.  You can quickly shed the constraints of your psychological interpretations for a generous understanding of yourself as a human being.  You see, when we say Self Acceptance, we don’t merely mean taking ownership of your gifts and limitations, strengths and weaknesses.  What we are really talking about is taking responsibility for and embracing our EXTRAORDINARY, UNLIMITED, and GENERATIVE power of being human.  Yet, as human beings, we must adapt to the world around us, our circumstances and others in our world.  But the operative term is BEING.  Our unlimited, unbound nature which can be harnessed and manifest in our lives right now.

Wow – this is truly exciting!  To lead people back to the amazing power they already have.  The real question is – can you accept how remarkable you really are?

Career Transitions are a beautiful thing!

They better be, because most of us will go through them several times in our lives. While the uncertainty surrounding change is uncomfortable, most of us have to admit that change often inspires creativity, growth and learning. The loss of a job may be particularly unsettling – fear, loss, embarrassment, and a sense of failure are all common reactions. The trick here is to recover yourself, your confidence and power as quickly as possible.

If you are trying to choose a different path or considering a career transition, the following questions may help to clarify where you stand.

• How do I know when it's the right time to change?
• What do I need to know before choosing?
• How do I gain confidence in myself as I approach others for a job?
• How can I be sure I'm not repeating mistakes I've made in the past?
• Am I better off staying where I am?

All too often the concern clients express is: “I know I want to change what I’m doing, but I’m not sure WHAT I want to do. How do I decide WHAT to do next?” While this seems like a reasonable question, I believe it will more often than not get answered in a way that will lead to future misgivings. If you already have an answer to “WHAT”, then go pursue it powerfully. If you don’t have an answer to “WHAT”, perhaps a more fundamental question needs to be addressed first: “Who do I want to BE? Who am I going to BE?”

Be honest with yourself. Are you driven by the title, the corner office, the salary, position or authority? Do you want to be a lone wolf or a team player? Do you want to be the decision-maker or are you okay accomplishing tasks that are provided to you? Who do you want to be – 24/7 consumed by work or do you want the freedom / ability to set your own fate? There is no right answer! These answers will vary depending on your personal circumstances. There are times when you need to surrender to “the program” to get ahead. And there are times when you can exercise more latitude. I repeat: there is no right answer.

The key is to know that you are ALWAYS at choice. You are the chooser. The moment you forget this everything becomes hard and complicated. That is why getting YOU right, knowing what your priorities, capacities, goal and personal values are is so important. Choosing “IT”, the job, career, etc. is always more satisfying if you are grounded and “right with yourself”. Remember – you have the right to choose. Exercise your right!.

Corporate Transitions Consulting & Coaching

Perhaps the most important and distinguishing aspect of our corporate work is that we optimize the relationship between individual responsibility and ongoing organizational performance. For over 30 years, I have worked closely with CEOs, executive teams, entrepreneurs, managers and professionals of all types.

There is no mystery surrounding success or accomplishment. The principles and practices for running a successful organization are well documented. Leadership, communication, vision, purpose, strategy, teamwork, etc. are all in the crosshairs of seasoned executives. But what has these “parts” come together successfully? What’s the “secret sauce”? Here’s the way we see it.

If you have a leadership role in your organization, I’m speaking directly to you. Because above all else you know that you must bring your “A” game every day, to every meeting, to every conversation. As a leader, you know that it’s your job to listen, collaborate and provide direction. In almost every case where we see sustained high levels of performance and results, there is an effective connection between a leader/manager and those tasked with fulfilling the company’s vision.

In order to establish and maintain this “connection”, we encourage the establishment of the following four principles as a platform for success.

I. Communication is a responsibility, not an option.
II. Leaders/managers are responsible for creating an environment where employees can do their best.
III. Employees commit to the notion that their organization has a right to expect that employees will always operate in the best interest of the organization.
IV. Each member of the organization is committed to cause a set of future outcomes/results that could not and would not occur without their intentional best efforts.

Once these principles are in place, organizations can and should focus on:

• A clear Vision/Misson - People need to know what future they are committed to fulfilling.
• A clear Strategy for accomplishing the objectives of the Vision/Misson.
Collaboration/Partnership - People need to experience that they are all on the same team. Creating a win/win culture should be the centerpiece of all communication initiatives.
Building an Executive Team - These individuals weigh all initiatives and actions based on what's in the best interest of the entire organization, rather than through the lens of individuals accountabilities.
Effective Communication - While transparency and inclusiveness are important variables in establishing effective communication, the key is maintaining INTEGRITY in communications. Organizations must build a culture where people are authentically committed to what they say. A promise IS a promise. A commitment IS a commitment.

Simply put, we literally cause / create a corporate culture in which individual and corporate responsibility merge into ONE.
